Medicaid therapy services in Illinois for individuals seeking affordable mental health support and counseling

NaTanya Cooper
I want to start by first acknowledging my therapist NaTanya. She is awesome and I’m grateful to have met her and work with her during this time in my life.

NaTanya Cooper

As a  Licensed Professional Counselor, I know how important it is for you to find your voice, feel valued, and work with a therapist who understands your life struggles and history. I create a safe and judgment free space in which clients

can feel heard and express themselves to the fullest. My clients will be supported by my approach which uses intentional goal setting to help clients begin a new healing journey. Finding your true self and taking your life back is possible. I will partner with you to make this a reality.

My experience includes working with adolescents, young adults, women, and men to help them realize their fullest potential in life. Additionally, I specialize in Marriage and Family Therapy to support couples and families looking to come together and heal. By working through life’s challenges such as childhood trauma, relational issues, and work-related stress, I believe that clients possess inner strength, knowledge, and motivation to transform.

Specializes in children, adolescents and adults.

ADHD and neurodivergent-affirming

Amal Khatib

Therapist

My goal as a therapist is to help my clients feel truly heard, find rest, and experience inner nourishment through mental wellness. I aim to walk alongside you—offering support as you recognize the strength you hold in your healing journey.

My clinical experience spans working with children, adolescents, and adults, with a particular focus on supporting those in the SWANA, Middle Eastern, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ communities.

I also work with people navigating autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergent experiences. Whether you’re moving through trauma, anxiety, grief, burnout, or just trying to make sense of your story, I’m here to meet you where you are.

With children, I often use play therapy, adapting my approach as we get to know each other and build trust. With older clients, therapy might look like exploring patterns, relationship dynamics, or the parts of you that feel stuck or unheard. No matter your age, our work is always collaborative and grounded in what feels safe and supportive to you.

My approach is rooted in psychodynamic and attachment-based theories and always shaped by trauma-informed care and cultural humility. I believe healing is about tending to the parts of you that need care and compassion. And that process can look different for everyone.

As a first-generation Palestinian-American, queer, and neurodivergent person, I know what it’s like to carry shame, to feel “othered,” or to wear a mask just to make it through the day. I’ve had to learn that healing doesn’t have to be about becoming someone else—it can be about softening into who you already are. It is possible to meet yourself with love and understanding.

I aim to create a peaceful, supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and emotions without judgment. In this space, you will find comfort, rest, and the opportunity to develop gentle strategies that add to your life.
